lyrics

When we're old we won't remember, you said, before we snuck into the woods. And I pretended there were bear tracks, in the wet snow, and you pretended we were ghosts. Held a flashlight in my pocket, but you said, no, don't turn it on we've got the moon. And then we knelt down in a clearing, and you looked up, took two drinks and felt it burn.

You look like a deer in the snow, my fingers are cold,
I can't think straight.

In the morning we will sit down at a wood table, you'll have cereal and I'll have eggs. You'll tell that story about your old boyfriend, and the train that he jumped on. I'll want to cry but hold it back. Then, I'll go back in my little woodshed of a bedroom, and play guitar until it hurts. We'll both go outside in the backyard and shoot the shit. We'll do it over and over again.

You look like a deer in the snow, my fingers are cold,
I can't think straight.
One year between you and me, it's still hard to sleep,
I can't think straight.
